Eating Out Lo-Carb

Blackened Sirloin and Garlicky Green Beans

Applebees scores another home run with this new dish.  For me, the fried red potatoes are a no, so I asked the server to substitute the scrumptious veggies served beside the Napa Chicken Portobello (see below) which she was happy to do.  I had the Roma/Pepper bit beside the zucchini medley.  Never, ever, ever have I eaten warmed tomato that tasted so very scrumptious!  And the steak was absolutely mouth-watering...hands down the BEST steak I've ever eaten!  And this at Applebees...not exactly the place that springs to mind when I think steak house.  But truly...for very low carb, or otherwise...this menu item is very, very good.  It cost about $12.  More food than I could finish...and no...I didn't miss the potatoes at all.

Applebees - Napa Chicken Portobello

*ask them to hold the potatoes and provide a larger portion of the zucchini.

 $9.99 on the Applebees Menu

This amazing dish is amazingly lo-carb.  Especially if you mind your manners and ask them to "hold the potatoes and provide a larger portion of zucchini."  Delicious!  But even if they balk at the extra zucchini, it's still a large and filling portion.

Chili's - Fajita Trio

$15.79 on the Fort Smith Chili's Menu

This serves enough for me to eat 1/3 of it, and save the rest for tomorrow's dinner.  Of course my kids know I'd never buy this.  I don't like shrimp.  But I include it to remind you that eating lo-carb isn't so very limiting, really.  Anywhere you can order fajitas, you have an easy choice on the menu.  Just tell them to hold the tortillas, and the beans & rice if those are served.  You have an amazing, filling, very fantastic in every way meal for very low carbs.

A wonderful have-it-your-way choice!  Don't put dressing on it, though.  Most dressings have carbs hiding in them. Opt for a drizzle of olive oil, instead.  And a great addition when in season...a dollop of avocado.  I avoid tomatoes on mine, because they add carbs.  But this salad is certainly a very lo-carb option.
